Perlite is used for absorption oil

Perlite is the natural non-organic sorbent that is capable of absorbing 4 to 20 volumes of proper weight. That’s why this material is added to sorbents and is well suited for eliminating oil, gasoline, diesel and other fuel spills.

The perlite porosity reaches 70-80%, that’s why it can suck in literally in a moment both organic and non organic substances 1:1 by volume. Besides, Circulite is rather easily regenerated and spent sorbent after being recovered can be re-used in construction industry.

Possibilities and areas of using perlite-based sorbents:

  • accident oil spills
  • water purification on the ships (removable filters)
  • treatment of water courses from floating oil products
  • purification of industrial waste (stationary filters).

Advantages of perlite as sorbent:

  • convenient when used to eliminate oil spills, also when applying to and collecting from surfaces treated with perlite
  • remains afloat when staying in water for a long time
  • when decomposed does not excrete noxious side products, does not pollute water with organic substances that would lead to disruption of ecological balance.
